About us
Philosophy
Our work encompasses many sectors, stretching across the entire south of England. We see our works as contemporary, rooted in a desire to understand the context of a place. Landscape, topography, history and culture impact both rural and urban settings; both residential and commercial ventures.
Our work values craft, natural materials and traditional techniques to create innovative architecture with purpose and narrative – particularly within sensitive landscapes and complex historical sites.
Within each design there is a focus on sustainability, encouraging clients to engage with a “green agenda” from the outset. We look to reduce energy though use of a sites orientation, modern technologies, specification of local, sustainable materials and a fabric first approach to thermal performance.
Approach
At Vessel, we believe designs should be developed in collaboration with our clients, not imposed upon them. We use our process to explore ideas that respond to context; site specific conditions, materiality, sustainable practices, statutory compliance, whilst also meeting the needs for brief and budget.
As a practice, we pride ourselves on a high level of detailing to ensure our spaces are not only beautiful, but also rigorously and thoughtfully put together. This requires care, finesse and a collaborative approach from our construction partners – all working toward a common goal of high quality architecture that is responsive to space, place and you.
Why work with us?
- A free, digital consultation is provided at the outset, prior to appointment.
- We only design buildings we would happily design for ourselves. That’s why our work is sustainable, thoughtful and carefully crafted – from conception to completion.
- We foster a collaborative approach with our clients, contractors, consultants and makers based on good communication and clear strategy.
- Our design information is accessible. We utilise 3D digital software to aid visualisation and encourage client engagement with the design process.
- We take pride in detail at every work stage. Craft is at the heart of our ethos.
- Sustainability comes as standard. We are experienced in the specification of green technology to ensure your project performs both technically and ethically.
- We are well connected with local, reliable contractors and consultants, that we trust to recommend to you.
- Our team has specialist knowledge, working with listed buildings, heritage assets and sensitive landscapes including AONB’s, National Parks and Conservation Areas.
